vulcanica
si caratterizzano per la varietà delle forme
geologiche, molte delle quali sono molto antiche. D'altra parte,l'erosione nei
millenni ha levigato ed eroso fortemente tutte le terre di questa regione.
Nell'isola Vi sono abbondanti estensioni piane od ondulate, benché non manchino
territori, specialamente nel centro dell'isola con pendenze, di relativa
importanza. Per questo motivo l'isola è anche comunemente chiamata "'isola
piatta".Nel sud dell'isola,vi è la
penisola di Jandía che è costituita con differenti materiali geologici e a
differenza del nord ha più elevazione rispetto al livello del mare.Situata a
circa 100 Km del Continente Africano, costituisce,con Lanzarote, la parte più
orientale dell'Arcipelago, Lo stretto di La Bocaina separa entrambe le
isole.
